We’ve been working with Warwick Arts Centre since 2010 to deliver their movie-making summer school programme ‘Make It Reel’. The challenge was always pretty clear; 5 people & 5 days to make a 5-minute film.

When we started MiR eight years ago participants were shooting on DV tape and for most of the young people involved this was their first experience making video content. Wowsers, how things have changed! So now we’re back in 2018 with a completely overhauled programme, rebuilt from the bottom up to provide an amazing new arts and media opportunity over the summer.

Make it Reel is a multimedia summer school for young people interested in film, acting and music. You’ll work and play for a week alongside a team of creative professionals from different disciplines to craft a media-rich live performance.

Are you a budding director, actor, editor, musician, film-maker or singer? Then this is the week for you!

We’re shaking things up with this year’s film-making summer school, and offering a wider variety of opportunities and art forms for young people so they can choose a specialism, more akin to how industry works.

Working alongside professional artists, each specialist group (either Acting, Music, or Film-Making) will focus on their preferred role while gaining a greater understanding of how all the elements come together to create a film. Teamwork and cooperation will be the key! The week will end with a screening of the final films, with a live musical accompaniment and performance that celebrates the week’s hard work.

We will be offering more spaces for people to join us this year and you’ll be able to choose at the time of booking whether you’ll be in the Acting, Music or Film-making group for the week.
